FULL-TIME/SEASONAL POOL MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of the position is to perform a variety of management duties for the City of Farmer City at the public swimming pool facility during the summer

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan, organize, schedule, direct and/or lead various recreational programs at the pool
  • Develop and monitor budget; submit receipts and bills for payment
  • Secure supplies, equipment and facilities
  • Recruit, interview, hire and train program staff; supervise and evaluate performance

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise seasonal employees and participate in hiring and training of staff
  • Develop staffing plan, develop and maintain weekly staff schedules to ensure coverage
  • Direct seasonal staff to ensure performance continues to meet customer service and other standards
  • Reconcile cash drawers each day; maintain inventory spreadsheets/reports
  • Make recommendations for formal staff discipline within the department
  • Monitor contractual obligations between department and other agencies or businesses. Assure adherence to standards and work relating to safety.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lifeguard Instructor Certification
  • Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with ethics, honesty and integrity.
  • High school diploma required; two years recreational experience in a supervisory role.
  • Certified Leisure Professional and Basic First Aid/CPR Certification preferred or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience
  • Ability to get Aquatics Pool Operator Certification (if becomes required by the Center for Disease Control)
  • Ability to manage and handle cash and check payments in an accurate manner.
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, internet and email sofrtware and other applications as needed by the department
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions
  • Ability to give verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to direct, appraise and discipline staff in a respectful and constructive manner
  • Ability to maintain a high level of customer service in all areas of responsibility

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work in field environments as well as in the office. Oversight activities may take place in a range of outdoor temperatures as well as moist or humid and hot conditions

Work includes ensuring that there is appropriate coverage to meet customer service and other job demands and may require additional hours in early morning, evenings or weekends.

The employee must occasional lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

License/Certification:
