Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Manufacturing, the Plant Manager is responsible for leading all operations in Zinpro’s Rainsville, Alabama manufacturing facility. The Plant Manager will drive the production of Zinpro Specialty Products at this site. This role will establish policies and procedures to achieve optimized production schedules, product standards, and operational costs, and promote the maintenance of a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment. The Plant Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing Zinpro’s strategic business initiatives for the Rainsville, Alabama facility.

Essential Functions

  • Leading and lagging metrics in safety
  • Optimize cost, cost per kg, kg's produced, rework, and customer service levels
  • Leads all production and personnel activity in Zinpro’s manufacturing plant as the site’s senior leader, as well member of Zinpro’s Global Operations Leadership Team
  • Manages cross-functional onsite team that includes production, office, safety, and related support functions to drive exceptional performance toward production objectives and professional growth
  • Ensures engineering/maintenance activities enable & enhance operational capabilities
  • Implements continuous improvement processes throughout the facility to optimize plant efficiency. Leverages daily management systems, lean problem-solving methodology and high-impact communication to drive results
  • Ensures plant record keeping, reporting and operation to ensure compliance with safety, health, quality and environmental regulatory standards and requirements
  • Drives the production and quality control standards, obtains data regarding types, quantities, and specifications
  • Ensures compliance with the Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Safe Feed Safe Food programs and Hazard Analysis and Risk based Preventive Controls for food for animals and human food
  • Partners with cross-functional Zinpro teams outside the plant to resource and optimize plant operations in alignment with organizational goals
  • Participates in the development of budgets for equipment, staff, maintenance, and plant operation, and monitors and manages facility operational costs. Coordinates and gives oversight to capital projects
  • Implements and conducts safety and compliance training programs. Responsible for safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify / implement corrective actions
  • Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Management, or applicable field
  • Minimum 10 years experience in food or feed industry; minimum 5 years of leading people
  • Ability to read, interpret and discuss chemical formulas
  • Experience in behavioral-based safety and root cause analysis

Preferred:

  • 7+ years’ plant management experience in a related field, including budget responsibility
  • Ability to design, purchase, develop, and maintain production equipment
  • Experience leading manufacturing facilities and staff in the feed, food, or chemical industries
  • Experience in S&OP and / or other cross-functional business leadership teams
  • Professional certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, CMfgE, or APICS certification
