Southern Industrial Constructors is looking for Pipe Fitter Apprentices to work out of or Raleigh, NC office.

Assists Pipefitter to assemble and install piping and supports for various piping systems. Knowledgeable in the use of motorized equipment.

Essential Functions / Duties:

• Familiar with the use and care of tools.
• Prepares work area and assembles necessary tools.
• Selects specific type and size of pipe to cut, measure, thread and install.
• Installs brackets on walls and other locations to secure hangers for pipes.
• Assist with the install of pipes, instruments, valves and other fittings.
• Cuts holes in walls and ceiling for pipe passage using pneumatic drill or hole saw.
• Understands prints, piping isometrics, and piping diagrams.
• Performs material take offs.
• Torch cutting, operation of equipment such as pipe cutting/beveling machines and basic rigging knowledge.
• Knowledge of control valves, check valves, and relief valves related to removal, handling, and proper installation.
• Able to install and remove blinds for isolating fixed equipment and performing hydro tests.
• Knowledge of materials which require the proper pre-heating prior to cutting or welding.
• Assist with demolition, removal or re-routing of pipes and piping systems.
• Assist with loading, unloading and transporting material.
• Lift and carry objects of varying weights.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Significant travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as required.

Working Conditions

Conditions may include working in shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. Must be able to safely access all areas of property, including rooftops and other elevated positions as well as, confined spaces. Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds. Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools. Must be capable of standing for long periods, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, and working in awkward body positions.

Requirements

Must have own tools. 2+ years minimum experience. Must be at least 18 years old.
