Scope of the Job

Review, monitor, and control charge capture and documentation. Minimal provider contact possible for documentation clarification.

Essential Functions

1. Review documentation and code for accurate charge capture.

2. Provide coding assistance to the billing groups (E&M coding, consults, bedside procedures, inpatient services, etc)

3. Ability to work overtime as needed based on the needs of the business.

Must be capable of dealing with periodic cyclical workload pressures and levels of responsibility. Required to make independent judgments without supervision. Must be able to make generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria. Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Requires the ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Report to manager an/or provider documentation, billing, compliance concerns as identified.

Coding and documentation analysis skills.

Experience with medical management information systems and medical software.

Proficiency with medical terminology.

Proficiency with CPT-4 procedural coding and ICD-10 diagnosis coding, CPC preferred.

Medical billing experience.

Ability to interact effectively with staff, provider, and outside contacts on a variety of levels.

Experience

CPC certification required

3-5 years medical billing experience preferred

Extensive experience in coding E&M and surgical procedures preferred

Education & Certifications

High school diploma or GED certification required.
