Position Summary
The Medical Faculty Associates is looking for a Physician Assistant to join the Division of Infectious Diseases with responsibilities in both the clinical and research operations. The Division of Infectious Diseases oversees research activities focusing on new HIV therapeutics, prevention of HIV, medication for opioid use disorder, latent tuberculosis, and vaccine studies for HIV, COVID-19 and Lassa fever. Clinical responsibilities will include seeing patients in the Travel Clinic, seeing patients in the general ID clinic, and overseeing the delivery and administration of injectable antiretroviral medications for HIV treatment and HIV prevention. Research responsibilities would include working as part of the GW Clinical Trials Unit research team on HIV Prevention Trials Network-funded research trials focused on novels forms of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV-negative patients at risk for HIV acquisition.
Qualifications
Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications;
- Must fulfill the criteria for licensure and certification as a Physician Assistant in the District of Columbia
- Have clinical experience in infectious diseases and research
- Follow clinical and administrative procedures as outlined in study protocols
- Interact with research participants in a friendly, prompt, and caring manner, maintaining confidentiality and respect at all times
- Performs medical and health care procedures as laid out in the study protocol
- Willingness to work as a part of a research team in data collection and quality control activities.
