Minneapolis College is hiring a temporary part-time instructor in the
Photography and Motion department within the
School of Design and the Arts.
Dates of Employment
Spring semester 2023 (January 9 – May 12, 2023)

- Lighting 2 – 3 credits.
- Illustrative Photography – 3 credits.
Courses offered for instruction
Option to teach either one or both courses:
- Lighting 2: Schedule of Mondays/Wednesdays 9:00 am – 10:50 am
Students will learn setup, operation and utilization of student strobe and continuous lighting equipment and accessories. Topics include identification and operation of various lighting systems, develop creative processes in image development and final portfolio methods.
- Illustrative Photography: Schedule of Tuesdays/Thursdays 1:00 pm – 2:50 pm
Students learn lighting skills necessary to illuminate any given product, fashion or food. Work in collaboration with layouts, stylists and models producing photography and motion imagery. Topics include research types of illustrated photography, lighting schemes and photography food and
Instructor Responsibilities:
- Teach lecture &/or lab course(s) to very diverse student population
- Create/edit instructional materials
- Assess student performance
- Organize/maintain instructional lab/equipment
- Participate in department meetings
- Utilize campus technology to maintain professional skills & connect with faculty, staff & students
- Associate’s degree
- Three (3) full-time years (or equivalent) of related paid work experience in the photographic field.
- One (1) year of the above work experience is within the last five (5) years (waived if two years of successful full-time, or equivalent, postsecondary teaching experience with the last five (5) years).
Current and/or former employees must be in good standings at Minneapolis College for consideration.
