Phlebotomist
PAID HOLIDAYS, NO SHIFT/WEEKEND WORK, PTO, SICK LEAVE, FREE LUNCHES AND PARKING
The Phlebotomist is a non-exempt hourly paid position that perform phlebotomies and port access functions and other responsibilities under the direct supervision of the Phlebotomy Manager; draws, collects and processes blood samples; familiar with basic lab tests; communicates with clinic staff and patients; and complies with all laws, health and safety standards, etc.; position primarily located in West Ashley but rotates to office in downtown Charleston and Mt. Pleasant: performs other essential functions when necessary.
Essential Functions:
- Arranges daily activities based on urgency of requests, coordinates and manages other responsibilities during a busy day.
- Draws, collects and processes blood samples in a timely manner; possesses knowledge of basic lab testing such as CBC, BMP, etc.
- Communicates effectively with Physicians, AAP’s, and clinic staff; reassures patients by answering their questions and helps them relax.
- Keeps accurate records for documentation in patients file and provides other useful information to patient.
- While working, complies with all relevant laws, health and safety standards and labels samples correctly to send them for testing.
- Complies with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, OSHA, ADA, ACA, etc., health and safety standards; completes annual Healthicity training courses on time.
- Performs other essential functions when necessary.
