Job Title: Phlebotomist

Hours: Part Time/60 hours every 2 weeks

Shift: Days

JOB SUMMARY: Collects, processes and delivers specimens to appropriate sections of the Laboratory for testing as ordered by the Physician. Actively participates in outstanding customer service.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Greets and assists patients entering the waiting room and laboratory in a warm and professional manner.
• Must be comfortable with fast paced environment and be able to multitask.
• Shows accountability to co-workers by being trustworthy, responsible and dependable while taking ownership of actions.
• Establishes proficiency in collecting patient samples correctly so that accurate test results are received.
• Strong communication skills with co-workers, doctors, nurses and patients.
• Maintains well stocked draw rooms and trays.
• Strive for proficiency and accuracy with the laboratory EMR system to ensure accurate order entry, faxing results, printing results, and scheduling patients.
• Attention to detail.
• Answers the phone in a friendly and professional manner.
• Establishes great communication and teamwork with other departments to ensure proper patient care.

OTHER SKILLS:

• Demonstrates care, compassion and pride in performing tasks.
• Exercise independent judgement and can work under minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Licensure/Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Phlebotomy training is preferred but not required
• ASCP/AMT Phlebotomy license preferred but not required.

Experience:

• Experience in a hospital or clinic setting is preferred but not required.
• Experience with LIS computer system is preferred but not required.
