This recruitment will be used to fill various Pharmacy Technician positions within the Pharmacies in Multnomah County’s Community Health Center as they become available. Types of positions include Regular Full Time, Float, and On-Call positions.

The mission of the Health Center’s Pharmacy Program is to provide exceptional pharmaceutical care for vulnerable, underinsured and uninsured clients of the MCHD. We deliver cost-effective medication and medication management services that positively and compassionately impacts the health and well-being of those we serve.
Pharmacy Technicians provide technical support to Pharmacists in the processing of prescriptions and the maintenance of the Pharmacy Department according to State of Oregon Pharmacy Board Rules and Regulations.
As the Pharmacy Technician, you will:
  • Gather patient information needed to prepare prescriptions, enter prescription/patient information into the computer system, prepare prescriptions by counting, pouring, or mixing medications and labeling containers.
  • Answer phones, take messages for refill requests, pull medications from stock for the pharmacists, and file written prescriptions after prescriptions are dispensed.
  • Perform on-line billing, call third-party insurances for clarification and resolution of claim rejection, confirm payments.
  • Answer questions from the staff/patients that do not require a Pharmacist's professional expertise or judgment. Assist staff/patients to ensure timely quality customer service is delivered.
  • Review/analyze patient profiles in EPIC and pharmacy software for coverage notes, and refill requests to providers.
  • Provide check out and collection of pharmacy copays and fees.
  • Complete reports, close out batches at the end of each shift, and prepare daily deposits.
  • Inventory Management: Order drugs and supplies from wholesaler and county warehouse, utilizing online systems. Receive, check in, and stock shelves with drugs and supplies; process order errors and returns to vendors. Check stock for outdated medications; process expired medications for return to reverse distributor. Monitor refrigerated items for proper temperature.
  • Complete requested reports and documentation.
  • Perform related duties as instructed or required.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be as noted below. All non-traditional education, training and experience will be evaluated.
Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; AND
License/Certification: Currently licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing by the
Oregon Board of Pharmacy

Multnomah County COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: To protect the health of the community and employees, Multnomah County requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical or religious exemption as a qualification of employment. Preferred Qualifications/ Transferable Skills*:
  • Additional specialized training in pharmacy or a related field is desirable.
  • Experience working in a retail pharmacy setting.
  • Strong communication skills.
