CHCW offers patient-centered care as well as an intellectually stimulating teaching environment of a Family Medicine Residency Training Program. We have an opening for a highly motivated Staff Pharmacist- Prior Authorization to join the Pharmacy Team at our Central Washington Family Medicine (CWFM) clinic. The position is full time (40 hours per week).
The prior authorization pharmacist works collaboratively with the clinical teams in the prescription prior authorization process utilizing pharmacist judgment, medication expertise and knowledge of prescription insurance to initiate medication prior authorizations. Clinical and technical knowledge will be required to help develop and improve operational efficiencies and enhance medication management services.
Job duties include:

  • Submit prior authorizations via CoverMyMeds®, telephone or fax.
  • Review and interpret prescriptions issued by health care providers to ensure safety, accuracy, and appropriateness.
  • Supervise pharmacy technician(s) in prior authorization process.
  • Uphold established policies & procedures concerning pharmacy operations, 340B program compliance and medication quality assurance.
  • Counsel patients and providers on drug information, interactions, adverse effects, dosage, storage, and other related information when needed.
  • Assist clinic nurses/providers with medication questions when requested or as time permits.
  • Use the pharmacy management software to enter, verify, and approve prescriptions and perform drug utilization reviews when needed.
  • Monitor medication therapy, review charts, and make recommendations to providers when necessary.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities and duties in the absence of direct supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy required
  • Washington State Pharmacist License required
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Ability to stand, use hands, walk, sit, talk, and see adequately (reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions)
