This position is located in our brand-new Oakland City Center location, or remotely (within the state of California). We are flexible provided you are open to traveling to the Oakland office locations as needed.

About Your Work

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and assessing pharmacy utilization management programs; pharmacy safety and adherence programs across our populations, where we hold financial risk for pharmacy utilization, to improve quality and cost-effectiveness.

Some of the areas which you will be responsible for are the following:

  • Implement and monitor clinical protocols and guidelines and enhancing the delivery of evidence-based pharmaceutical medicine.
  • Serve as primary clinical pharmacy programs contact and subject matter expert to Medical Services, physicians, and project teams regarding clinical intervention programs and pharmacy benefit management issues and attending related program meetings.
  • Develop and analyzes prescription drug and medical claims data reports to identify opportunities to improve quality and cost-effective use of drugs and develop project proposals for identified opportunities.
  • Develop new and enhances existing clinical intervention strategies and programs related to drug utilization management to improve quality and promote cost of health care savings to support the Shared Savings strategy.
  • Develop strategies and supports implementation of programs to provide medication therapy management activities to members in multiples settings, including during transitions of care and in the outpatient setting.
  • Regularly monitor program data and metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and clinical outcomes, and reports to appropriate committees, managers, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide operational and process leadership to deliver effective program operations, evaluating and recommending improvement opportunities to managers and program stakeholders proactively.
  • Develop, implement, and lead an internal Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee (P&T)
  • Develop utilization review methodology for pharmaceuticals
  • Oversee Generic Fill Rate program
  • Develop and implement value-added pharmacy programs and services that may include: Injectables and Chemotherapy program, Medication adherence, Polypharmacy monitoring, Senior high risk medication program, Disease management intervention protocols, Ensure appropriate drug therapy for complex patients
  • Provide consultative services to medical, nursing and pharmacy staff.
  • Provide drug-therapy related education and training to team members.
  • Serve on/provides consultation to hospital committees as requested/is appropriate.
  • Document clinical activities and outcomes.
  • Provide education on prescribed medications and compounds according to professional standards and practices.
  • Participate in quality initiatives to enhance pharmaceutical care.
  • Effectively communicates with all internal and external constituents to provide information, reach consensus, and problem solve moderate to complex problems.

The Skills, Experience & Education You Bring

EDUCATION:

PharmD degree and 4 years of experience in a clinical pharmacy practice setting or managed care setting, or equivalent. Currently active and unrestricted California Registered Pharmacist (RPh) license.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in managed care and clinical pharmacy, direct client and provider interface experience, and demonstrated leadership skills/capabilities experience preferred.

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Proficient use of computers including MS Office applications.
  • Experience with computerized pharmacy systems.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong Project or Program Management skills
  • Strong math, analytic, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other healthcare professionals, practitioners, patients and families Ability to effectively support, coach, educate, mentor and lead staff
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 - $165,000.00 per hour
