Personal Care Assistant (Part-time)

We have various shift openings, flexible scheduling, and sign on bonus. Sign on bonus of $250.00 after working 300 hours within first 90 days of employment.

Job summary:

Provides personal care and home making services under the direction of the Consumer and within the guidelines of Benefit’s company policies and procedures. The Personal Care Assistant is hired and assigned to specific clients with assistance from the Agency and performs services for clients as is necessary to maintain their personal comfort and a safe home environment.

Qualifications:

·Personal care experience (Preferred)

·Successful completion of a general training program, skills test, competency evaluation or the equivalent documentation

·Current driver’s license, vehicle insurance, good driving record

·CPR certification

·Be at least 18 years of age

·Must be able to safely lift at least 50 pounds

·Self-motivated and flexible availability

·Possess decision making and problem-solving skills

·Maintains confidentiality in all areas

·Sound interpersonal skills

·Good documentation and computer skills

·High School diploma or equivalency

·Ability to participate in physical activity

·Ability to work for extended period of time while standing and being involved in physical activity

Responsibilities:

·Performs personal care activities, including but not limited to the following:

·Bathing, bed bath/tub, bath/shower

·Shampooing

·Skin care/nail care

·Oral hygiene

·Shaving

·Dressing

·Toileting and depends changes

·Assist with ambulation using gait belts, canes and walkers.

·Assist with exercise program

·Performs household services

·Meal preparation/feeding

·Laundry duties

·Light housekeeping

·Assists clients with self-administration of medications

·Accompany to appointments, shopping or other activities

·Provide protective oversight

·Records accurate time in/out, using telephony system, for every visit.

·Promote personal safety and a safe environment for consumers by observing infection control practices.

·Demonstrates safe practice in the use of all necessary equipment prior to use in the client’s home.

·Communicates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team through verbal reports. Participates in staff meetings, in services and team conferences as requested and required.

·Maintains confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines in all aspects of the position.

·Participates in required in service programs to meet compliance requirements.

·Performs other related duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Working Conditions

General office, extended care facility, patient home settings, exposure to infectious diseases, travel by automobile and occasionally by airplane.

Physical Demands

Requires physical exertion. Duties of patient care during transfer activities (adjusting the patient in bed, transferring the patient from bed to wheelchair or vice versa, and chair to toilet, etc.) require that the employee have the physical ability to maneuver patients according to the care required. Additional physical abilities required during these activities will vary according to the level of patient cooperativeness, patient weight, available space and available equipment. Regularly required to use hands, talk or hear. Specific vision abilities include close, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
