The Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) is currently seeking applications for a People Operations Specialist to support CSET's dynamic Operations Team. In this role, you will play a key part in helping to build and develop the CSET team, with a particular focus on furthering our diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
Reporting to CSET's Assistant Director of (Talent) Operations, you will provide administrative, organizational and project management support to ensure that our people-focused operations run smoothly.
Responsibilities:
Recruiting
Assisting in the development and execution of CSET's robust talent sourcing and recruitment strategy to source a pool of qualified, diverse candidates for open positions via directed outreach to relevant job boards, job fairs, and University career centers
Assisting in the development and maintenance of new and active position descriptions; ensuring they are accessible
Managing and updating hiring-related materials such as hiring spreadsheets, application packages, CSET's career page, and recruitment directory, among others
Representing CSET at recruiting events, conferences and job fairs
Utilizing outreach platforms such as LinkedIn Recruiter and ATS platforms such as Workday and Interfolio
Working with the External Affairs team to design and execute recruitment-related external outreach via social media, targeted CSET emails to subscribers mailing list, and events, among others
Supporting hiring managers with applicant screening and initial down-selection
Designing and managing resources (like FAQs and Hiring webinars) for potential applicants and potential candidates
Tracking and analyzing applicant data and providing recommendations to ensure a diverse candidate pool
Workforce development
Onboarding: Managing the onboarding process for new CSET employees, including:
Collaborating with hiring managers to provide tailored onboarding support (e.g., checklists and plans)
Serving as a resource for new hires as they complete the onboarding process (logistical, administrative and training)
Managing onboarding administrative documentation and preparation, such as internal hiring spreadsheets, hardware inventory tracking, and onboarding guides/checklists, among others
Providing logistical support, such as securing necessary office supplies, coordinating workspaces, assigning onboarding buddy's, and giving space orientation and office/campus tours
Organizing cohort-building activities such as welcome events, happy hours, and professional development sessions
Ensuring CSET's onboarding policies, procedures and job aids are kept updated
Intern Programming:
Collaborating with the Assistant Director of Operations and other CSET leadership to stand up internship program
Overseeing internship-related programming
Reviewing and approving internship applications
Managing the appointment process, including devising position descriptions, collecting and processing hiring appointment paperwork, and ensuring a successful onboarding/offboarding for intern cohort
Assessing and coordinating intern programming to provide appropriate opportunities
DEI initiatives:
Coordinating CSET's DEI initiatives, tracking, analysis and reporting
Attending trainings, identifying opportunities and recommending DEI related trainings, initiatives and policies to CSET leadership
Training:
Coordinating research fellows training program, including scheduling of guest lecturers, coordination of site visits, and evaluation of training performance via surveys
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
3 to 5 years of relevant work experience providing administrative, operations, HR, talent, and/or project management support
Proven people-focused leadership experience
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Ability to carry on assigned tasks with limited need for supervision
Proficiency with office productivity tools like Google Docs/Sheets, Microsoft Office, etc.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills, and critical thinking skills
Motivated, enthusiastic and self-driven
Alignment with CSET's mission and culture
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States at the time of application and not require sponsorship for continued employment.
The People Operations Specialist will earn between $65,000-$77,000 annually, commensurate with experience, and have access to Georgetown's generous benefits package.
This position is designated as hybrid, which means candidates will be expected to work from CSET's D.C. office at least 2-3 days per week.
