Relationships—Reports to on site manager
Job Description – Individual is responsible for moving select cows to the milking robots while maintaining overall pen and robot room cleanliness.
Schedule-This is a full-time, overnight position. 45+ hour weeks depending on the farm’s needs. On call for breakdowns/emergencies as needed during shift.
Duties
- Fetch cows to be milked
- Ensure dairy and cow cleanliness
- Clean cow beds, crossovers, and outer robot areas with hand scraper
- Clean water troughs
- Clean and maintain robot rooms
- Robot maintenance
- Identify lame or sick animals for treatment
- Data entry into herd management software (T4C/Horizon, DairyComp305)
- Other tasks as needed at the manager’s direction
Requirements
- Have an extensive knowledge of equipment
- Lift 50 pounds or more
- Willing to work nights and weekends
- Maintain all applicable licenses including valid U.S. driver’s license
- Observe general safety of people, animals, chemicals, and equipment
- Good general understanding of cow behavior and health
- Willing to learn
Compensation
- This position is $14.50 hourly pay
- eligible for paid vacation upon completion of 1 year
- 401k eligible upon completion of 6 months with company match
