Responsibilities
Job Summary:
This job is responsible for performing professional work in support of medical staff/peer review processes for individuals granted clinical privileges in the assigned CHI Franciscan Health (CHI-FH) facility, specifically in regard to Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE). Peer review is instrumental in identifying, tracking and resolving clinical performance and/or unprofessional conduct issues in a manner that promotes education, improvement and patient safety.
Work includes data collection, analysis, and reporting for presentation to the Multi-Specialty Peer Review Committee and Section Committees and to support ongoing OPPE and FPPE decision-making processes designed to facilitate high quality and safe patient care. An incumbent identifies opportunities for provider improvement and works with individual providers and teams to facilitate improvement in individual performance and clinical documentation, and to enhance quality of care initiatives designed to ensure compliance with hospital policy, evidence-based patient care standards and applicable regulatory requirements and promote systemic improvements.
Work requires knowledge of peer review systems, standards, processes and regulatory requirements as well as effective methodologies for screening performance against established quality indicators and preparing timely and effective case studies for presentation to medical staff committees. Also requires proficiency in data collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation to high-level audiences and physician groups. An incumbent is responsible for keeping abreast of current/changing regulatory requirements with potential to impact documentation practices and related training.
Executes peer review screenings based on quality indicators approved by various medical staff departments/sections and/or referrals from other sources within the hospital;
Qualifications
Education/Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing or other related discipline, graduation from an accredited school of nursing, and four years of related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.

Initiates the peer review process based on findings from medical record reviews and other screenings that meet approved quality indicators criteria; prepares cases for peer review in accordance with established standards.
Facilitates and supports Section Committees and Multi-Specialty Peer Review Committee meetings; presents case studies with accompanying data for provider reviewers.
Prepare monthly reports for the Medical Executive Committee, the Professional Performance Committee, and the Section Chiefs accessing various systems and databases.
Maintains provider’s quality files with aggregate data collection and analysis; prepare files for Credentialing during appointment and reappointment cycles.
Qualifications
Education/Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing or other related discipline, graduation from an accredited school of nursing, and four years of related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
Licensure/Certification:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Washington State Nursing Commission.
