Position: Promotor P/T (20 hrs./week)
Program: Peace and Healing Center (PHC)
Location: Panorama City and Pacoima sites
Salary: $18.50 p/h
Position Summary:
The Peace and Healing Center Promotor under the supervision of the Best Start Community Engagement Coordinator will implement the Resident and Stakeholder Strategy to conduct outreach and further strengthen relationships with diverse parents, residents, organizations, and other stakeholders to increase interest and participation in Peace and Healing Center (PHC) events and activities. The PHC Promotor will support the Community Engagement Coordinator in the coordination of all environmental and social healing events and activities. El Nido is contracted by First 5 LA as the lead organization for the Regional Network designed to support and maximize the impact and sustainability of the Best Start Communities in the San Fernando Valley. The Peace and Healing Centers are an extension of the Best Start Regional Network and as such will operate within the Regional Network Model.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Implement the Resident and Stakeholder Strategy to conduct outreach efforts that increase interest and participation in PHC events and activities. Provide overall PHC program information at community events, school meetings, and other community-centered events.
· Responsible for maintaining and sharing the monthly PHC activity calendar with El Nido staff to ensure El Nido and Best Start Region 3 families are informed of all environmental and social healing events and activities.
· Supports in social media content development that highlights participant testimonies, images, and videos during PHC events and activities – encompassing narrative-based programmatic reporting.
· Works closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator to coordinate the daily PHC events and activity implementations at the specified El Nido sites with designated PHC subcontractors.
· Works closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator to co-facilitate PHC Office Hours that incorporate specific microprogramming assistance for participants and community at large.
· Act as a liaison to all program subcontractors and El Nido staff.
· Cop-facilitates office hours that incorporate specific microprogramming assistance for participants.
· Works closely with Community Engagement Coordinator to manage weekly registration records and ensure all participants are connected to PHC events and activities.
· Keeps appropriate data and files, assist with information gathering and report writing as needed.
· Attends and participates in all staff meetings and trainings as needed.
Education/Experience Requirements:
· At least one year of experience in the nonprofit sector working with adult populations and with families from diverse age, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
· Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
· Group facilitation skills and the ability to lead groups though a process of gaining consensus
· High degree of autonomy and ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders; capacity to excel in fast paced environment with multiple priorities
· Must be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally for group presentations and meetings. Effective written skills to articulate concepts/ideas in notes and reports.
· Must be detail oriented, organized, accurate and have time management skills to complete requests in a timely manner
· Excellent oral and written communications skills in English/Spanish
· Knowledge/experience of personal computer operation including word processing and data entry
· Working knowledge of standard office practices and equipment.
· Oral and written proficiency in Spanish (Required); must have a reliable automobile for use on the job (mileage to be reimbursed); valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and proof of insurance; TB clearance, to be renewed every two years.
· Knowledge of San Fernando Valley (preferred)
