Overview:
The Emergency Service Patient Liaison provides service excellence between Emergency Services patients, their families, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital healthcare providers to promote satisfaction and positive patient family relations. **0.7 FTE, 28 hrs/week. Schedule would be Tuesday 9a-9:30p, Friday 9a-5:30p, every other Saturday/Sunday 9a-5:30p, holiday requirement.**

- Provides communication in a liaison role between patients, their families, and the Emergency Services staff. Works collaboratively with the Charge Nurse, Social Workers, Physicians, Security Officers, and other staff to meet the needs of patients, families, and visitors.
- Circulates in the lobby to facilitate communication. Informs families of patient activities and departmental processes.
- Identifies potential problematic situations and attempts to resolve any problems or complaints. Communicates actual or potential medical and customer service problems to the appropriate staff.
- Serves as a resource for families in need of assistance. Utilizes appropriate resources when necessary to promote satisfaction and positive patient family relations.
- Assists with complaint follow-up and resolution. Investigates situations marked as “Left Without Being Seen” and documents as needed.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement and risk management activities.
Education: High School Graduate
Certifications: CPR certification

- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills
- Comfortable interacting with patients, of all ages, families, visitors, and all NCH staff including (physicians, nurses, other health care providers, administrative staff, etc.)
- Ability to speak and write in a professional manner
- Must be able to operate a telephone, computer, and other office equipment
