POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Driver (Part‐Time)
Reports To: VP of Safety and Community Outreach
FLSA Classification: Non‐Exempt

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Our Driver position is responsible for transporting students from school and to and from certain sporting events. The Driver must follow a preplanned route according to a definite time schedule. They will also be required to inspect and sweep bus on regular basis, reports delays and accidents, defects or problems with vehicle to supervisor in a timely fashion. The Driver must also assure that the bus meets regular maintenance schedules and recommended fuel levels. The Driver must be attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers. They must also possess an ability to get along with diverse personalities and display tact, maturity and, professionalism on a daily basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures safety of passengers to and from school
• Ensures safety of passengers to and from sporting events
• Follows a predetermined route set by supervisor
• Maintains a safe environment on the bus for all passengers
• Provide transportation on field trips that are scheduled during school year, summer camp and breaks
• Collaborate with staff to account for children on field trips and during school
• Maintains a clean and regularly maintained bus

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a high standard of customer service when dealing with Club members, parents, volunteers, staff, and general public.
• Participate in special programs or events.
• Meet and/or communicate directly with parents/teachers regarding member needs/accomplishments.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Must be at least 21 years of age (High School Diploma or GED required)
• Valid State of Oklahoma Class A, B, or C driver license
• Experience in driving with passengers
• Knowledge of state traffic and highway safety rules and regulations and of precautions necessary to avoid accidents
• Good Driving record without any DUI convictions or incidences of reckless driving
• Excellent communication skills
• 2+ years working with children (preferred)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Duties are performed on a company bus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to loud noise levels; fumes or airborne particles; noxious odors; vibrations from driving a bus; and traffic. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; use foot controls to drive; reach with hands and arms; climb; bend, stoop, and kneel; and talk or hear. The employee must be physically able to perform and demonstrate emergency evacuation procedures. This includes the pushing/pulling of up to 50 pounds. In addition, have the ability to use emergency exits at any location on the bus. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, night/dusk vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
