Our Parts Advisors are responsible for maximizing parts sales by implementing approved sales processes and providing exceptional customer relations. Responsible for optimizing department profitability by ensuring quality standards and care.
PURPOSE:
The emphasis of this job is to provide outstanding service by selling parts to wholesale and retail customers and generating business. The Parts Advisor must be knowledgeable about parts and the use of the parts for client and customer needs. He/she should be capable of dealing intelligently with a diverse group of customers, technicians and shop owners both in person and on the phone.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide high level of service to internal and external customers
- Sell parts over the phone to wholesale and retail customers
- Must be friendly, professional and efficient when working with customers and co-workers
- Provide the same high level of service to the other dealership departments as is given to other customers.
- Handle telephone calls from both wholesale and/or retail accounts, providing price quotes and other information.
- Promote additional parts sales by suggesting related items and seasonal lines
- Coordinate activities to ensure the correct part is identified and obtained
- Apply information found in technical publications, periodicals, bulletins, etc.
- Notify Parts Manager or Assistant Parts Manager of out of stock parts or shop materials and report any discrepancies that need immediate attention
- Conduct regular telephone solicitation on assigned wholesale accounts
- Clean, revise and update parts and accessories displays
- Initiate credit applications for new accounts
- Determine correct parts numbers and “pick” parts for orders received
- Arrange for delivery or shipment of parts as required
- Prepare and cost out parts invoices, properly identifying eligible wholesale customers
- Help maintain parts stock in orderly condition
- Assist with regular parts inventories and the selection of parts for return under parts obsolescence protection program
- Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggest companion requirements, offer specials and ensure that the customer is exposed to the full product line
- Notify Service Desk that ordered parts have been received
- Ensure the Technician presents a Repair Order, before parts are charged out
- Keep all bins, aisles and storage areas clean, neat and clearly labeled
- Keep front and rear counters clean and uncluttered
- Advise Parts Manager when areas of the department are not in satisfactory condition
- Keep current on new products and product updates
- Participate in all training programs as required
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in an automotive Parts Department
- One year of parts sales experience in automotive dealership
- Maintain a high level of professional personal appearance and conduct
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Proficient knowledge of dealership’s computer systems (CDK/ADP) and Microsoft Suite
- Ability to collaborate with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time
- Ability to collaborate with other departments
- Must be a team player with impeccable honesty and integrity
- Must have a valid driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record
