Through NBA Cares, the league addresses important social issues by working with internationally recognized youth-serving organizations that support education, youth and family development, and health-related causes.


Position Summary:

We are actively seeking a Partnerships Lead to help support the first-ever NBA Foundation, a public 501(c)(3) charity, dedicated to creating greater economic empowerment in the Black community.


The NBA Foundation is looking for a highly motivated and strategic individual with deep partnership and enterprise account experience ready to identify funding opportunities beyond the $300M committed by the NBA's governors. This person will build and cultivate new relationships with potential and existing NBA partners, secure corporate donations and provide research on best practices to keep the NBA Foundation on the cutting edge of resource mobilization.


The Partnerships Lead will be responsible for maximizing the partnership experience and creating a comprehensive account management process focused on strategic engagement, retention, and expansion. The Partnerships Lead will work efficiently across various internal departments such as Marketing, Operations, Legal, Finance, Content and Global Partners.


This role will support the Executive Director to grow strategic and long-term opportunities with the foundation’s various partners. The Partnership Lead will also help plan events and offer guidance to the Executive Director on successful practices that can be taken to further the foundation’s fundraising goals.


Major Responsibility:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to create a fundraising plan that will achieve the NBA Foundation's annual funding goals.
  • Manage day-to-day interactions with NBA partners and employ critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills to navigate relationships.
  • Build awareness to the NBA Foundation’s efforts to external audiences and drive key NBA Foundation programs on global platforms
  • Design and maintain the systems, processes, technology, and resources that the NBA Foundation utilizes to achieve its fundraising goals.
  • Track and analyze fundraising efforts and results to ensure that the NBA Foundation is most effectively positioned to achieve its fundraising goals
  • Plan and execute fundraising campaigns, including designing the campaign, producing essential materials, and creating progress reports for internal and external use.
  • Maintain a donor database and execute prompt acknowledgement of donations.
  • Research and maintain a list of donor prospects that includes, but is not limited to, new and current NBA partners.
  • Manage a team for the planning and execution of fundraising events as needed, including post-event follow-ups.
  • Assist with the production of written materials including Board updates and the NBA Foundation’s annual report.
  • Assist the Executive Director with the creation of talking points and marketing materials for engagements with potential funders, key stakeholders and partners.
  • Demonstrate positive relationship management both internally with fellow staff and externally with potential and current funders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for potential funders interested in learning about and contributing to the NBA Foundation.


Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Passion for and interest in the mission of the NBA Foundation in service of Black youth
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to articulate the purpose of the Foundation and the ability to persuade audiences toward gifting.
  • High level stakeholder engagement and ability to collaborate and build relationships with all levels of leadership.
  • Ability to think creatively and be a problem solver, adaptable and results driven while demonstrating excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven track record of successfully handling complex partnerships
  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated understanding of fundraising, partnership management and event planning and execution.
  • Sound knowledge of the philanthropy and nonprofit (501c3) sectors.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated project and team management skills.


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in any related field
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in Corporate Partnerships, Account Management, Management Consulting, Fundraising & Development


Salary Range:

  • $130,000 to $160,000 per year
