Assists in planning, scheduling, organizing, and implementing recreation programs, activities and events.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Complete daily cash reports, paperwork, and other reports as required;
  • Ensures that facilities and programs are prepared for operations and oversee the facility in the absence of the supervisor;
  • Greets the public and promotes positive customer relations. Provides information regarding other recreational programs;
  • Performs related duties as required.
Indoor Recreation:
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise recreational activities and programs;
  • Assist the public in registering for classes and reserving facilities by explaining policies and procedures, and completing necessary forms;
  • Assist the supervisor in developing partnerships, soliciting donations, and recruiting new instructors;
  • Community Centers: Assist with activities and special events for all ages, and supervise campers during seasonal camps and summer camp;
  • Adult Activity Centers: Assist with activities, programs and special events for adults ages 50+;
  • Knowledge of recreation programming, cash handling experience, and classroom instruction preferred.
Outdoor Recreation:
  • Plan, schedule, organize and lead various classes, special events, leagues and tournaments;
  • Assist the public in reserving athletic fields, aquatic facilities, tennis courts, and Safety City facilities. Explain reservation policies and procedures and complete necessary reservation forms;
  • Assist with the operations of concessions and special events;
  • Knowledge of league scheduling, officials scheduling, cash handling experience, and classroom instruction preferred.



QUALIFICATIONS:


Completion of a high school diploma or any combination of education and experience that provides the following:

Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel;
Excellent customer service skills;


This is a year-round position. Must be able to work weekends.




KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:


Knowledge of:
  • Office practices and procedures, cash handling and reporting, data entry, filing, answering phones, and assisting customers.
Ability to:
  • Plan, organize, schedule and lead various activities, classes, and special events;
  • Maintain accurate records,
  • Supervise the work of others in the absence of the supervisor;
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • Operate standard office equipment
Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 30 pounds;
  • Push and pull objects in order to set up tables and displays;
  • Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees in order to retrieve objects from the safe;
  • Place arms above, at or below shoulder height.
