Position Summary
The Department of Dining Service at Saint John's University (SJU) invites applications for multiple part-time positions within our Resident Dining and Catering area. Flexible and varied hours are offered with each position.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following for each position:
Food Service Associate:
- Assist and serve students from SJU and CSB in our resident dining facilities.
- Serve as a service associate to our events and catering staff in preparing and serving catering and service functions at SJU.
Sanitation Associate - Dish:
- Work as a team member in the dish room to provide clean and sanitary dishes, utensils, pans, pots, and dishware for the customers of Dining Service.
- Perform custodial duties including cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and other projects as assigned by supervisors.
- Skills gained/used from this position will include interpersonal communication, teamwork, flexibility, dependability and customer service.
Food Production:
- Assist in preparation and production of all menu items for day-to-day operations
- Provide quality foods to service areas and catering events
- Practice sanitation and safety procedures

*Cashier*
- Handle cash and punch/flex transactions, receive and process payments, process credit and debit card transactions
- Assist in opening and closing of Sexton Commons retail location
- Examine inventory
- Provide customer service
- Assist in maintenance and retail displays, stock merchandise
- Perform necessary audits of cash intake and cash drawers

*Stocking/Freight Order - Sexton:*
- Put away freight order
- Organize inventory
- Must be able to lift up to 50# repeatedly and withstand cold temperatures (walk in cooler and freezer)
Custodial - Sexton
- Perform custodial services at Sexton Dining/Br. Willie's Pub including vacuuming, general cleaning, garbage and recycling, and deep cleaning
Qualifications
Food Service Associate:
- High School education.
- Previous work history or experience in customer service positions, ideally in the food service industry preferred.
- Demonstrated customer service skills, a service attitude and willingness to help others would be beneficial in this role.
- Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds or less, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Punctual and service-oriented.
- Professional demeanor to represent the staff and services at Saint John's University.
- Availability to work rotating shifts and overtime as requested - including regular evening and weekend assignments.
Sanitation Associate - Dish:
- On the job training is provided.
- Previous experience in food service is helpful but not required.
- Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds or less, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Food Production:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous service experience
- Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds or less, with or without reasonable accommodations and perform essential functions of job such as lifting, walking and standing.
Cashier - Sexton Commons
- High School education.
- Customer service, related experience.
- Cashier experience, cash handling experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly observant.
- Precise accuracy with cash handling and money transactions.
**
*Stocking/Freight Order - Sexton:*
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be physically capable of performing required duties
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to tolerator cold temperatures for extended periods of time (frequently working in walk-in cooler and freezer)
- Must be able to work independently, without supervision, as well as with others
- Good organizational, written and oral communication skills
- Strong aptitude and general knowledge of FIFO, proper product rotation and organization, and inventory management
- Ability to read, understand directions and make independent decisions
Custodial - Sexton
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be physically capable of performing required duties
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds
- Tolerance to chemicals necessary
- Ability to learn to operate auto scrubber/sweepers, buffer, swing machinr, vacuums, etc., including all related custodial equipment
- Must be able to work independently, without supervision, as well as with others
- Basic ability and knowledge of cleaning and general light maintenance
- Capable of maintaining and accounting for inventory of tools, custodial equipment, all furniture and supplies in building(s) assigned
- Good organizational, written and oral communication skills
- Confidentiality with regard to work area exposure to information, documnets, etc.
- Strong aptitude and general knowledge of cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting and light maintenance. Institutional custodial background helpful.
- Ability to read, understand directions and ability to make independent decisions
