Education Program Assistant

International House (IH) seeks an Education Program Assistant who will report to and support the Director of Education & Workforce Development, especially as it relates to our youth education programs.

Youth Education Programs Overview

Rising Readers is our six-week summer literacy program that serves 350 K-5 English Language Learners (ELLs) in high-need areas within Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS). Rising Up is our afterschool tutoring program, which serves 400 K-5 ELLs during the school year. We hire 30 – 80 seasonal employees (contractors) for these programs annually.

Responsibilities:

The Education Programs Assistant primary duty includes assisting the Director of Education & Workforce Development in implementing Rising Readers (RR) and Rising Up (RU).

This includes, but is not limited to

• Supporting Site Coordinators and volunteers

• Assisting with the creation and facilitation of pre-service training for the seasonal staff and volunteers

• Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing program data for RR and RU

• Arrange materials and weekly snack distributions with RR and RU site coordinators

• Maintain an inventory of educational supplies & curriculum

• Assist with updating, and distribution of documents for program recruitment and registration

• Represent IH’s Education Department at the program sites, community events and resource fairs

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, especially Excel

• Previous data entry/analytics experience

• Strong administrative and organizational skills

• Clear, timely, and effective communication skills

• Ability to problem-solve and quickly respond to unexpected circumstances

• Reliable and consistent

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual Spanish and English, both written and verbal
