Nashoba Valley Technical High School is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Custodian to join our Faciilities staff. Nashoba Valley Technical High School is located in Westford and serves students from our district towns of Ayer, Chelmsford, Groton, Littleton, Pepperell, Shirley, Townsend, and Westford, Massachusetts.This is a full-time, twelve month, Monday through Friday position. Hours are as follows: * Probationary period first 60 days on the 1st shift - 7:00am to 3:30pm with a 30 minute unpaid/duty free lunch* After probationary period, hours will change to 2nd shift - 2:30pm to 11:00pm with a 30 minute unpaid/duty free lunchOptions for part-time work available.Per union collective bargaining agreement the starting probation rate is $20.86 per hour. After an employee has completed sixty (60) working days, such employee will then be paid as set forth in Step 1 ($21.85 per hour for the 2022-2023 school year).

Annual raises will then occur in accordance with the union collective bargaining agreement. Please note, other benefits apply in accordance with the union collective bargaining agreement such as paid holidays, paid vacation after 6 months, 15 paid sick leave days per year (accrued monthly), 2 paid personal days, and the employer pays 75% of insurance premiums for employees selecting the HMO plan. For more details please refer to the custodial unit union collective bargaining agreement.Custodian Job Functions* Perform all cleaning tasks inside and outside school buildings, including sweeping, using vacuum cleaner, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, buffing, sealing and waxing floors, and dusting* Moving and arranging furniture, equipment, draperies, and storage equipment* Removing wastepaper and other materials and emptying waste receptacles inside and outside of the building* Replacing light bulbs* Perform routine maintenance on lavatory equipment, including unstopping plugged fixtures* Removing ice and snow from school grounds and roof decks, salting and sanding* Locking and unlocking facility and securing facility when leaving the building vacant, including setting alarms* Unloading and storing supplies and equipment* Picking up and delivering supplies* Regular and prompt attendance* Occasional minor electrical work, carpentry, plumbing and painting* Performing security functions as needed* Driving forklift on intermittent basis* Driving school vehicles as needed* Such other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Director of Facilities or Night Shift Supervisor
