Under general supervision of the Parks Maintenance Foreman, supervises assigned staff and participates in the maintenance of the trails system. Determines ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Assists in maintaining City parks, facilities, equipment, and grounds; cleans and repairs park facilities; conducts routine landscaping and facilities maintenance tasks

- Mows and weed eats grass at City parks and medians.
- Trims and cuts trees.
- Cleans restrooms at parks and cleans the community center.
- Performs routine repairs on equipment in the park.
- Picks up liter in the parks and other City facilities.
- Performs all job duties according to all approved safety rules and procedures.
- Actively participates in monthly safety meetings.
- Promptly reports all accidents, injuries, theft, loss, and broken/damaged equipment/property to their immediate supervisor. Reports or corrects all unsafe practices or conditions they observe to their immediate supervisor.
- May apply pesticides.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned to assist with special events, etc.
- Serves in extension of current duties as required for emergency management, particularly in the areas of shelter, debris removal, and recovery.
- Provides quality customer service to City staff, the general public, and all other work contacts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, training and Experience Guidelines
High school graduate and or its equivalent. Or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of light machinery operation and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of CPR.
Skill in:
- Ability to tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, plumbing, equipment safety, chemical safety and maintenance, horticulture, playground safety, tractors, mowers, irrigation.
- Reads and comprehends warning labels and road signs.
- Playground safety, reports, vandalism reports.
- Measures and mixes cleaning agents.
- Follows instruction on use of chemicals, and park safety procedure (playground & equipment).
License(s) required:
Valid Class C Texas driver’s license
Commercial Driver's license or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment
Hiring Range: $15.11 to $18.93 hourly.
