Job description
GENERAL PURPOSE
The individual will perform general manual labor and maintenance for the Parks Division of the Parks and Recreation Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work includes, but is not limited to mowing, raking, shoveling, weeding, power washing, trash collection, facility cleaning, facility maintenance painting and sweeping.
- Park employees may, under supervision, training and permission of a full-time Parks Division employee, use vehicles, mowers, gas powered blowers and weed eaters, power washers and hedge trimmers.
- Report all problems, safety issues and risk management issues to direct supervisor at once.
- Thoroughly and honestly complete all paperwork daily.
- All park employees must extend courtesy and display a friendly, helping attitude.
- Park employees are expected to greet, provide assistance to or otherwise project a "service with a smile" attitude to our citizens using our parks and recreation facilities.
- For safety reasons, employee is not to leave the assigned work area without notifying direct supervisor.
- Schedule will consist of a maximum of 37.5 hours per week and periodically will require work during evenings and weekends.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have transportation to the Parks Division Maintenance building.
- Must have or be successfully working towards completion of a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Employees must exhibit a clean and neat appearance.
- Employees must conduct themselves in a manner (language, behavior or clothing) that is not offensive to people with whom they come in contact.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to effectively read and speak in English.
- Must exercise excellent judgment in completing work assigned while ensuring the enjoyment and safety of citizens utilizing the park.
- Perform all work with extreme caution and care with personal safety as a priority.
- Cooperates with and treats all co-workers and citizens with due respect.
Employee may operate the following list of equipment: zero turn mower, weed eater and power blower washer and hedge trimmers.
