ERG is the largest independent clinical research site services company focused on special populations and is the market leader in CNS.  With 20 wholly owned clinical sites, we conduct in-patient and out-patient phase I-IV clinical research studies. We are looking for an RN or a skilled Paramedic to perform activities related to the clinical area, including medical support systems and assisting medical personnel with study participants care duties as assigned. Incumbents work under supervision of Clinical Shift Supervisor and/or the Clinical Research Coordinator (assigned to study), performing routine duties and referring questions and problems to the supervisor. This position will have a variable work schedule, including flexible hours and weekends.

Responsibilities:

Clinical:

· Performs study events and collects clinical data as per protocol requirements
· Administer study drug as assigned
· Notifies appropriate staff of abnormal results while collecting data, adverse events or unusual incidents
· Assures minimal discomfort for study participants while performing all duties
· Has knowledge of telemetry monitoring and interpretation of tracings
· Maintains safety and well-being of study participants during assigned shift
· Has knowledge of holter monitoring skills
· Prepares participants for events
· Understands all functions of telemetry monitoring machine
· Collects all telemetry tracings for licensed personnel to review
· Must be able to use proper advanced life support equipment and supplies
· Maintains skills in the use of EKG machine, taking accurate vital signs and IV insertion
· Keeps apprised of all new OSHA, BLS, ACLS and GCP/ICH rules, regulations and procedures
· Must be capable of providing advanced life support emergency medical services, including conducting of and interpreting EKGs
· Must be able to provide top quality care and concurrently handle high levels of stress

Educational:

• Maintains current licensure, registration and/or certification within educational background
• Maintains current BLS and/or ACLS certification
• Maintains necessary CEU’s for licensure, registration and/or certification
• Assist in training new Medical/ Nursing Assistants and Phlebotomy Technician

Education and experience:

• Certification as a Paramedic with BLS and/or ACLS Certification with a minimum of one year experience as a Paramedic in a first responder service or medical facility
• BLS and/or ACLS certification required
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of California with ACLS Certification and a minimum of one-year experience as an RN in a medical facility

Requirements:

• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required
• Understands regulatory requirements, as well as Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and International Conference of Harmonization (ICH) guidelines.
• Knowledgeable in medical terminology
• Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal)
• Ability to perform overnight business travel
• Basic computer skills to include Word, Excel, as well as proprietary applications unique to the clinical research industry (such as Study Manager)

• 12 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Night shift
• Weekend availability

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
