The Painter I will perform position responsibilities on behalf of Medxcel within the assigned working location of* Sacred Heart Properties- Pensacola, FL*. The Painter II applies preparatory materials, paints, and stains to surfaces of walls, ceilings, equipment, and furniture. Prepares and applies appropriate materials to signage and irregular surfaces such as parking lots, streets, and athletic play areas. This role also inspects the quality of applications, and assists with the management of project productivity and material costs.

Responsibilities: Install, repair and maintain painting components:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
• Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations
• Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition
• Provides protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish, lacquer and related materials to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, furniture, equipment and other property
• Prepares surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, torching and/or smoothing prior to applying finishing materials
• Maintains existing paint surfaces by matching/tinting appropriate paint products
• Maintains equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition. Properly stores, cleans and disposes of all supplies and equipment used accordingly to departmental policies and procedures
• Determines appropriate color for new or replacement applications through consultation with customers
• Identifies, safely handles and appropriately disposes of paints, stains, preparatory and undercoating materials and other hazardous materials
• Operates compressors, striping machines, sandblasters, spray equipment, and other small power equipment
• Installs, repairs, and maintains drywall, wall texturing, and ceiling acoustic texturing
• Operates heavy lift equipment including scissors, and boom swing stage to heights of 80 feet
• Erects various types of scaffolding, staging, ladders, and planks to reach surfaces of work area for Painters and others
• Applies paints, stains, surface preparatory materials, and undercoating materials to a variety of surfaces, as appropriate, and according to Materials Safety Data Sheets ensuring compliance with hazardous materials guidelines
• Creation and application of graphics and signage layouts according to DOT, Safety, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements to meet state and federal regulations

Qualifications: Education:

• High School diploma or GED preferred

License/Certification:

• Valid driver’s license required

Experience:

• Minimum three (3) years’ experience of commercial painting and vinyl wall covering or post high school education in lieu of experience required
