Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Painter is responsible for the maintenance, painting, and upkeep of the interior and exterior of structures, buildings, other surfaces, and fixtures that are either painted or have various other finishes. In this role, the painter maintains a proactive and innovative approach to maintain the aesthetics of all assigned areas, while championing the goals and priorities of the Tribe in a manner that reflects and upholds the Tribal Community’s vision, mission and values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Prepares various interior and exterior surfaces such as but not limited to drywall, metal, wood, and concrete. Applies paint to floors, walls, ceilings, doors, cabinets, and rails using various methods including brushes, airless sprayer, or paint rollers. Prepare and mix paint efficiently to meet color and tone expectations, as well as possessing knowledge and experience in faux painting, matching wood grain, stone and other finishes.

2. Installs and repairs drywall, baseboards, wall paneling, trim, fabrics and wallcoverings. Repairs and installs exterior insulation such as stucco, siding and EIFS.

3. Operates hand tools, power tools, pressure washers and aerial lifts. Erects scaffolding and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas. Prepares work area by masking and covering equipment and surfaces, as well as removing furniture, fixtures and equipment as necessary to ensure safety. Takes all necessary safety precautions in compliance with San Manuel policies and procedures and all health and safety regulations.

4. Completes work issued through a service order system. Works with various trades, vendors, general contractors, and sub-contractors in completing projects/tasks. Responsible for maintaining inventory of required supplies and materials, as well as updating paint finish control books.

5. Performs preventative maintenance and repair of paint equipment.

6. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in commercial and residential painting.

  • Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the enterprise’s insurance carrier.
