Paradise Valley Estates (PVE) is an 80 acre, premier life plan community located in the foothills of Napa Valley in Fairfield, California. Founded originally as a military community, PVE has evolved to include all members of the community but the military heritage and values of Honor, Authenticity, Collaboration and Service still exist.
Working under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Painter will be responsible for performing painting projects all over the Paradise Valley Estates campus in conference with the appropriate authority in reading and interpreting job orders. The Painter will regularly paint vacant units and rooms in Deer Creek, Quail Creek, Willow Creek, and Laurel Creek. Routinely conducts touch-up painting throughout campus to walls, trims, and door jambs. Seasonally, when weather permits, completes exterior paint projects such as painting safety red and yellow curbs on campus.
Job Responsibilities and Competencies:
  • Must possess knowledge of all facets of painting, proper techniques of applications, and knowledge of which products to be used for specific applications.
  • Ability to hang drywall, tape and mud drywall and match a number of different textures preferred.
  • Responsible for preparing cost estimates and product proposal.
  • Applies paints, sealers, and solvents to exterior and interior building surfaces such as plaster, sheetrock, concrete, and wood.
  • Performs building exterior and interior caulking, finish repair, mud and tape, and texturing tasks.
  • Operates equipment such as airless spray equipment, scaffolding, and motorized lifts.
  • Uses mechanized high-reach equipment to renew caulking on exterior building panel seams, windows, and doors.
  • Performs special refinishing tasks including wood surface preparation, staining, and sealing.
  • Performs minor plaster repair, blending newly renovated wall surfaces with existing plaster.
  • Surveys building painting project sites to estimate time and material quantities required; selects appropriate surface coatings.
  • Appropriately mixes paint colors following determined formulas approved by management.
  • Performs pre-painting activities including scraping, sandpaper, and repair of cracks and holes before conducting general finishing.
  • Executes preemptive maintenance to ensure long-lasting colors and minimize future damages.
  • Responsible for the application of paints using rollers, brushes, spray guns, and finishes drywall using standard or specialized tool.
  • Responsible for cleaning all equipment, including brushes and spray guns, after use.
Job Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent or trade school preferred.
  • No formal training required.
  • Experience in interior and exterior painting in a residential setting.
