Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is looking for a Painter at our Daytona Beach campus.
Responsibilities include the following:
-
Assist the Building Services Trades in all areas of campus painting, both interior and exterior.
-
Tape and finish all new drywall work and perform wall preparations and repairs in all campus buildings, both interior and exterior.
-
All work must be performed neatly and properly, bearing in mind the traffic to which this type of work is exposed.

Keeps supervisor appropriately informed as to the condition of the buildings and repairs needed.
-
Assist the Building Service Trades Foreman in keeping an adequate amount of supplies on hand for completion of work orders.
-
Wall preparations and painting of all campus facilities.
-
Maintain all tools and equipment properly.
-
Complete in-house renovations utilizing carpentry, drywall and painting skills.
-
Install Vinyl Cove Base.
-
Install Corner Guards.
-
Perform Monthly roof inspections.

Varied work hours as necessary
Qualifications
Education requirements:
-
High school (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition, and math
-
Read and comprehend instructions, write information, and complete simple forms.
Required skills, knowledge and abilities:
-
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
-
General maintenance skills a must with some builders hardware experience.
-
Must be able to read blueprints, make calculations, and keep records.
-
Must possess knowledge of proper wall coatings, their applications and skills in the painting trades.
-
Ability to tape and finish drywall, and make repairs on other existing wall interior and exterior finishes.
-
Be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
-
Ability to operate a standard shift vehicle.
-
Ability to operate all power equipment as related to building maintenance.
-
Ability to climb ladders or scaffolding and work overhead areas.
-
Ability to comprehend basic instructions and to respond effectively.

Eye hand coordination is essential for proper operation of power tools and other work associated with building maintenance.
Must meet the University’s standards for approved drivers. Unacceptable driving records include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence):

More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years
-
More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year
-
A major conviction in the last 3 years, including (but not
-
limited to) driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an
-
accident, reckless driving, and/or homicide or assault by motor
-
vehicle.
