Job description
Position is responsible for ensuring the reliable and safe operation of equipment through troubleshooting and maintenance. Proactively flows to work and assists with quality checks, changeovers, cleanup, and other departmental tasks. Must be able to safely and efficiently run equipment in the department within the qualification period (60-90 days). Actively participates in Total Production Management (TPM) objectives and priorities. Communicates with other departments and shifts about safety, quality, productivity, and other topics.
Position requires lifting up to 45 lbs. frequently, pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs., reaching, being on one's feet moving up and down stairs/ladders, and the ability to wear necessary PPE. May be required to work weekends and/or holidays.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Proactively investigate, troubleshoot and solve technical issues on the equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation
- Actively participate in Total Production Management (TPM) objectives and priorities including Autonomous Maintenance (AM), Focused Improvement (FI) and Organizational Capability (OC)
- Assist with changeovers, cleanup, and other department tasks
- Follow all safety rules, procedures, and policies
- Follow FDA/USDA quality standards and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Independently perform equipment Center-lining & CIL (Clean, Inspect and Lubricate)
- Maintain areas to 5S standards
- Perform and document quality checks to ensure proper packaging, coding, and products to ensure quality products
- Perform and track rapid changeover to ensure that the next product is started on time and is correct
- Proactively flow to the work to resolve problems and breakdowns
- Promote a positive team environment and demonstrate behaviors consistent with PepsiCo Values and Code of Conduct
- Remain on the line to during breakdowns to learn, observe, and assist
- Safely operate forklift on a daily basis
- Seek and listen to improvement ideas from team members and follow up on issues identified by team members
- Troubleshoot and investigate barriers to meeting departmental objectives and eliminate when possible, offer solutions or take an active role in removing these barriers
- Use computer software such as Microsoft Office as well as Quality and Productivity programs
- Attend all production, communication, and training meetings
- Effectively communicate safety, quality, productivity, and other information between shifts
- Participate in root cause investigation meetings to eliminate losses and waste, including safety issues
- Train new Specialist 1 Carton Filling Operators
- Use basic hand tools such as wrenches to access equipment
- Regular, reliable, predictable attendance
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 18 years or older
- Ability to obtain forklift license
HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:
- Experience reading and using standards of operation (e.g., understanding and using process, procedure, workflow documentation, etc.)
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
- Mechanical experience such as using basic hand tools
