About the Role:
The Field Inspector’s focus would be to assist the Horizon FTTH OSP Engineer in all aspects of deployment of Outside Plant in assigned markets. Responsibilities include ensuring the integrity of the extensive FTTH fiber optic network by performing various duties including confirming facility placement, and completing regular cable, equipment, or pole inspections. Incumbent must have the ability to communicate with contractors performing such work with a basic understanding of industry standards and construction of FTTH fiber optic networks. Field Inspectors are also responsible for properly reporting any issues to the FTTH OSP Engineer.

Essential Job Functions:
- Perform regular inspections of fiber optic network to confirm production numbers, ensure restoration is completed properly and satisfactorily.
- Must be able to take concise field notes and be responsible for all field work and staking sheets, permits, ROW, and the final drafting of the field notes when required.
- Must be able to make recommendations on all findings and needed changes (with supervision from OSP Engineer).
- Must understand outside plant design principles, work order procedures, telephone industry standards.
- Must have functional knowledge of PC applications and OSP record and/or computer aided drafting systems.
- Perform other assisting duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- GED or High School diploma.
- Valid, non-suspended Ohio driver’s license.
- Basic computer skills.
- Skilled in operating personal computer, MS Office products, smart phone, various software packages, and Web-bases products
- Skilled in basic safety principals.
- Skilled in problem solving.
- Ability to follow Corporate Standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects.
- Ability to effectively function as a team player.
Physical Requirements:
Heavy work: Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. If someone can do heavy work, we determine that he or she can also do medium, light, and sedentary work.
