Position Summary:
Park Nicollet’s Orthotics & Prosthetics department located at the Meadowbrook, TRIA Bloomington, and TRIA Maple Grove locations support the DME needs of patients by providing products used at home to help facilitate the successful management of any number of orthotic and prosthetic issues. The Specialist is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all documentation and files related to patient visits. Collaborates with HCP Purchasing Supervisor on supply chain initiatives.



Education/Experience:

  • One or more years of customer service, administrative or clerical experience in a business with high service standards preferred.
  • Associate degree in a related field, graduate from an accredited licensed practical nursing program, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other work experience that involves direct care with patients who have chronic diseases preferred




Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses:

  • Must have customer service skills, ability to multi task, verbal communication and telephone etiquette skills.
  • Ability to solve moderately complex problems and work independently.
  • Must be competent with basic Windows, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and insure safety of patients.
  • Extensive knowledge of home medical supplies and equipment, product lines and insurance guidelines for reimbursement on these products is desirable.

Orthotics & Prosthetics Department Summary

Park Nicollet’s Orthotics & Prosthetics department supports the Meadowbrook, TRIA Bloomington and TRIA Maple Grove locations to Physician groups, to support the DME needs of patients by providing products used at home to help facilitate the successful management of any number of orthotic and prosthetic issues. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining all documentation and files related to patient visits. Collaborates with HCP Purchasing Supervisor on supply chain initiatives.


Tasks and Responsibilities:


Percentage of Time


  • Conduct patient reminder calls or prepares written notification for scheduled appointments, greet and direct patients in a pleasant and professional manner, to appropriate care area, perform patient check-in functions, schedule appointments according to provider rules and guidelines. Maintains Provider schedules.

  • Complete the registration process accurately, to include pertinent billing, demographic and insurance information. Verification of insurance benefits, and Prior Authorization Requirements.

  • Answer calls, accesses patient needs and concerns, obtains and accurately relays necessary information.

  • Maintenance of all documentation related to payer, organizational and departmental requirements, i.e., ABN’s, Consent forms, POD, RX, Orders, Letters of Medical Necessity, and Statements of Certifying Physician for Diabetic Shoes and scanning into data base. Establishes and maintains departmental files, filing, and reference materials.

  • Required to communicate with Practitioners, and Purchasing Supervisor must display a professional and courteous manner.
