Midwest Orthopaedics is looking for a full time Medical Collection Specialist for our busy orthopaedic practice located on the campus of Advent Health Shawnee Mission. We will select candidates from those who complete the phone screening questions. Salary commensurate with experience, education and certification.

This position is ON SITE; no remote applications please.

Collections Specialist Duties

- Identifies delinquent accounts, aging period and payment sources. Processes delinquent unpaid accounts by contacting patients and third party payers

- Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone and resubmitting claims to third party payers.

- Evaluates patient financial status and establishes budget payment plans. Follows and reports status of delinquent accounts.

- Reviews accounts for possible assignment

- Answers inquiries and correspondence from patients and insurance companies. Develops collection letters.

- Follow up on unpaid claims and documents all claim activities

- Creates estimates for surgery, contacts patients with estimate information and makes payment arrangements for the surgery pre-payment.

- Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.

- Participates in educational activities.

- Maintains strictest confidentiality.

Responsibility for Assets:

Responsible for incoming cash, checks, and credit card receipts for co-pays until picked up by bank courier. Responsible for proper use and care of office equipment, including computer and copiers.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or GED certificate

2. Knowledge of medical accounts receivable practices and business office procedures.

3. Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding

4. Proficiency with Modifiers

5. Knowledge of clinic operating policies and procedures.

6. Knowledge of insurance agency reimbursement procedures and practices.

7. Good typing skills

8. Good communication skills

9. Good computer skills

10. Strong ethical and moral character references

Preferred

One year medical billing and insurance experience.

One year medical collection background

CPC

EMR experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
