Position Summary


Work as the Colostrum Operations Manager will center around leading, directing, evaluating, and developing a team who are responsible for various production activities such as machine operation, processing, treating, or packaging. Success in this position requires the ability to direct the plant operation and Colostrum activity in compliance with production, food safety and regulatory requirements and applicable laws and regulations. This role leads a team of 13 operators based in our Zinpro North Branch manufacturing plant that has been embedded within the North Branch community for over 20 years.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees the production activities of Colostrum Plant Operators ensuring the manufacturing process of Zinpro products as well as shipping and receiving, cleaning, and sanitizing activities
  • Manages projects and initiatives aimed at improving production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product and establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules; suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department or staff
  • Manages a team of production employees and ensures performance toward objectives and alignment with overall strategic organizational deliverables. Provides developmental coaching and ensures team members’ ongoing professional growth through quality talent reviews.
  • Owns manufacturing order process within SAP and ensures production documents are properly assembled, reviewed, and summarized at the completion of the manufacturing order
  • Manages equipment status and production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment
  • Leads upgrade and maintenance efforts in the production and warehouse areas; acts as a member of the Quality Unit
  • Communicates production statuses with cross-functional internal and external partners such as Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Procurement, and prospect customers
  • Drives company safety programs, ensuring active participation and adherence to safety policies and procedures by plant employees
  • Oversees process systems by understanding capabilities and directing the setup and adjustments of machines
  • Assists in the hiring process and ensures training delivery & employee proficiency
  • Ensures the warehouse and product is properly maintained ("First-In-First-Out") and that warehousing activity is performed according to the requirements of the procedures
  • Supports and ensures compliance with the Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Hazard Analysis and Risk based Preventive Controls for food for animals
  • Ensures raw materials and supplies are verified and available for manufacturing orders and communicates specifications and manufacturing requirements through the process orders
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS or BA) from a four-year college or university
  • 5 years’ experience leading manufacturing facilities and staff in the feed, food, or chemical industries preferred
  • Experience supporting ISO 9000 Quality Systems, GMP’s or Lean Manufacturing methods
  • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or inventory management systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

Schedule Requirements

This position is expected to work within core business hours and requires participation in after-hours meetings with plant personnel on other shifts as well as conference calls with overseas business teams as needed.

Travel Requirements

This position will work primarily at their home manufacturing plant facility and is expected to engage in company-sponsored travel approximately 10-15% of the time. Travel will consist primarily of visits to Zinpro Corporate Headquarters and manufacturing facilities.
