Business Need / Purpose of Role:



The Operations Manager ensures efficient and cost-effective production of products that meet internal and external regulations and requirements. They are responsible for daily supervision of the Manufacturing Staff and oversight of Facilities.



Objectives & Measurement



Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:


Including but not limited to:

  • Formulate manufacturing and production policies improve quality, maintain safety and ensure efficiently of the production cycle
  • Manage day-to-day operations by supervising individuals on the production floor
  • Troubleshoot changes in schedules/delays; recommend and implement corrective action to resolve
  • Coordinate receipt of materials with purchasing, receiving and inventory to ensure availability for production needs.
  • Participate in production meetings, report on progress of orders, and advise senior management of critical issues regarding production and recommends resolution.
  • Collaborate with sales and engineering departments to resolve changes in customer requirements and address manufacturing concerns.
  • Champion lean manufacturing principles, EH&S policies, and all Company quality standards.
  • Develop and adhere to budget, monitor expense variances, and recommend improvements
  • Monitor Production Department's conformance with Environmental, Health and Safety standards and procedures. Conduct Environmental, Health and Safety training for employees. Suggest methods for improving facility Environmental, Health and Safety performance.
  • Review and resolve corrective action requests on Environmental, Health and Safety Topics by performing a root cause analysis and developing a corrective actions plan.
  • Interpret regulations and standards (Environmental, Health and Safety, ISO, OSHA, heath/fire/building codes); define & evaluate problems, collect data, draw conclusions, write reports and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Identify risk conditions and communicate issues and resolutions to management team.
  • Ensure that all production employees are trained in the Company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program, are provided all necessary personal protective equipment, and follow all safety requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external Trillium Flow Technologies’ company audits
  • Supervise installation, renovation, repair, maintenance, movement and storage of furnishings and equipment
  • Coordinate all renovations, maintenance, cleaning and repairs to facility and grounds
  • Oversee layout and construction of interior workspaces and facilities
  • Liaise with outside agencies, negotiating and resolving facilities issues
  • Maintain the operation of electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems
  • Develop and manage policies for operation and maintenance schedules for all Company vehicles, including the forklifts
  • Maintain material handling and transporting equipment (cranes, cables, slings, etc.) including periodic inspections, maintenance, repairs, and record keeping
  • Operate computer programs for building systems, facilities planning and reporting
  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures relevant to security of all facilities
  • Prepare and submit estimates for machine movements and installations, plumbing, electrical, carpentry or other contemplated work within scope of responsibilities; contact outside contractors and vendors through Purchasing as necessary for accumulation of required data
  • Prepare and administer department operating budget and capital improvement budget
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Complete all other Company related duties as assigned


Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications


Education and/or Experience:

  • B. A. or B.S. degree
  • 5 years’ leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient and experienced in lean concepts
  • Excellent, leadership, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Mathematical:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Computer Skills:

Proficient in MS Office Applications and ERP systems. Understanding of CAD modeling software and prints.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:


Physical Demands:

Occasionally required to lift items up to 45lbs; required to move about production floor; frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach, grasp and type; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and climb.


Work Environment:

Work is typically performed indoors in an office or production floor setting. Noise level is moderate but may increase on production floor requiring hearing protection at times. Light is typical of an office or warehouse setting. Eye protection and other Personal Protective Equipment is required on the production floor.
