As the HR Office Manager you will manage the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) Department. This includes administering payroll for internal employees, benefit enrollment and management, and enforcing company policies and procedures. In addition, you will back up payroll and onboarding for our external employees and managing our HR Team and their processes and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manages an internal HR team that focuses on hiring/onboarding of our temporary staffing employees as well as weekly payroll. This position will back up onboarding and payroll for our temporarystaffers and work closely with our HR Assistants (HRA’s) to manage their day-to-day responsibilities, as well as back them up in cases of high volume or absences.
  • Conducts onboarding for all internal new hires, which includes sending out job offers, acquiring background checks and employment eligibility verification, and collecting all employment documentation required.
  • Completes bi-weekly payroll for internal employees and all related tasks.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and talent management.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Audits and updates company policies and procedures related to employee onboarding, as well as daily/weekly/monthly/yearly tasks required to assure the policies are current and details the processes thoroughly.
  • Administers all benefits, including taking part in the decision process each year to choose our benefit offering, answering benefit-related questions from employees, working with our service providers to enroll/terminate employee benefits, and managing the open enrollment process for each company each year.
  • Manages all worker’s compensation and unemployment claims.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 1+ years of human resource management and supervisory experience required.
  • Microsoft Office experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite or related software.
  • Proficiency in or the ability to learn STL’s HRIS and talent-management systems.
  • Previous payroll experience and SHRM-CP certification a plus.
