Obstetrician/Gynecologist

Provide medical care related to pregnancy or childbirth. Diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases of women, particularly those affecting the reproductive system. Provide general care to women. Perform both medical and gynecological surgery functions. Evaluate physical, developmental and psychosocial health status of patients through comprehensive health history and physical examination and using diagnostic instruments or lab procedures basic to screening of physical signs and symptoms. Access normal and abnormal findings from history and physical examination laboratory reports. Plan, implement, and evaluate care. Consult as necessary with other health professionals to provide for acute and ongoing health care or referral of the patient. Provide services in accordance with the clinic's policies. Manage the medical plan of care based on current standards of practice and research. Performs direct telecommunication for consultations, assistance with medical emergencies, or patient referral. Participate in joint review and revision of adopted protocol for medical care plans and patient care protocols. Participates in the overall clinic program evaluation. Initiate and maintain accurate records including patient records, appropriate legal documents and other health reports. Counsel individuals, families, and groups about health and illness and promote health maintenance. Recognize, develop, and implement professional and community education programs related to health care. Participate in periodic review of the patient's health records. Participates in call schedule and hospitalized patient rounds. Maintains hospital staff status. Meets all licensure and clinical competency requirements, for position including continuing education. Current on mandatory physical exams and TB testing, as applicable. Attends and participates in all required in-service training and mandatory meetings. Completes assigned tasks within electronic management and tracking systems. Understands and complies with the CCHS Compliance program, including but not limited to the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Manual, all supporting policies for compliance, and compliance plans affecting specific duties and responsibilities. Full-time employment with a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Requires Degree of Doctor of Osteopathic (DO), Doctor of Medicine (MD), or ECFMG equivalent. Successful completion of USMLE Steps 1, 2, and 3. Complete no less than a four-year medical residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Board certification in relevant specialty (OBGYN). Current license to practice in Iowa as a physician. Certified in BLS, ACLS. Current DEA number and prescriptive authority. Current State of Iowa controlled substance (CSA) and NCI.
