Essential Job Duties:
- Participate in the development and practice of the field of nursing in accordance with the facility and department's philosophy, objectives, standards, policies and procedures
- Plan, provide, and evaluate patient care through quality Nursing Assessments
- Documents observations, treatments, interventions, patient teaching and responses according to the facility and department’s policy and procedures
- Assign Patient Observation Rounds at beginning of shift as well as any other duties and assignments on each shift; Ensure staff is meeting expectations and all duties are successfully completed by the end of the shift.
- Timely review the Patient Observation Round sheets for each patient to ensure all levels of observation and precautions are accounted for and sign and date round sheets twice per shift.
- Serve as a leader and role model for patients and hospital staff
- Develop a therapeutic relationship with patients using strong communication skills and that incorporates the treatment plan goals, objectives, and interventions
- Maintain a therapeutic and patient-centered milieu on the unit
- Practice early intervention with patients and direct codes on assigned unit to ensure they are conducted properly and safely
- Attend treatment team meetings and collaborates with physicians, therapists, and other team members in planning patient care
- Administer patient medications as prescribed by physician in a safe, accurate and timely manner utilizing the "Five Rights" of medication administration.
- Completes all documentation timely, accurately and in accordance to nursing standards/facility policies and procedures
- Transcribe and carry out physician orders and performs nursing procedures according to facility policies and procedures
- Evaluate patient status and acuity and provide therapeutic intervention
- Maintains a safe, clean and organized work environment
- Maintains a positive and professional attitude and appearance; Communicate with other staff, visitors, and patients with compassion and courtesy
- Perform transcription of medication orders in a timely and error free manner
- Complete Adverse Drug Reaction forms and forward to Pharmacist.
- Assist patients in carrying out activities of daily living
- Identify, document, and report any and all instances of adult or child abuse and neglect to the appropriate parties including a member of management, the police, and state agencies
Registered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements:
- Current license to practice nursing in the State of Delaware (or eligible to receive or renew).
- Current CPR or BLS certification.
- Leadership experience

The Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program is intended for individuals working in a full-time direct care role in either a CDC designated substance use disorder (SUD) location, or Mental Health Professional Shortage Area.
