POSITION TITLE: NURSE INSTRUCTOR/FACULTY MEMBER
REQUIREMENT: Instructor must have a current nursing license: Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
A program instructor must:
  • be a licensed nurse;
  • have a minimum of one year of nursing experience in a facility;
  • have completed a course that focused on teaching adult students or have experience teaching adult students or supervising nurse aides; and
  • work under the general supervision of the program director or be the program director.
  • The program instructor is responsible for conducting the classroom and clinical training of the NATCEP under the general supervision of the program director.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for instructing students in a designed program of learning, supervising students in class, and monitoring student progress (grades and attendance). Incumbent is expected to work within the framework of the organization and provide/maintain the quality of the school’s educational environment. It is of the utmost importance the incumbent maintain a professional appearance and be perceived as most helpful and interested in each student’s well being.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assures school rules and regulations are adhered to by the student body.
  • Instructs students in subject matter, utilizing various methods, such as lecture and demonstration, and uses audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations.
  • Prepares or follows teaching outline for course of study.
  • Assigns lessons and corrects homework and classroom papers.
  • Administers tests to evaluate student’s progress, records results, and issues reports to inform students of their progress
  • Maintains discipline in classroom.
  • Periodically evaluates student progress to determine if the student is functioning at the appropriate level commensurate with their program.
  • Records the daily attendance of each class and reports absences to the Director of Education.
  • Counsels students concerning attendance, academic and behavioral problems, and records results. Forwards a record of each counseling session to the Director of Education.
  • Attends instructor in-service meetings (mandatory), and Advisory Board meetings as required.
  • Assists the Faculty Directors, as required by the Director of Education, in evaluating and establishing curriculums and programs.
  • Assures classrooms are properly equipped and maintained. Reports any equipment shortage/breakage or classroom deficiency to the Director of Education.
  • Maintains any required licensing to practice/instruct.
  • Keeps records and files secure and leave classrooms clean and orderly at the end of each period.
  • Reports directly to the Director of Education and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Education or the School Director.
