This position supervises the execution of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) operational plans. Supervises team of entry level to experienced NDT Quality professionals or supervisors of Technical / Business Support level employees, setting day-to-day goals and objectives. Responsible for balancing NDT technician workloads to ensure effective use of resources, maintaining inspection logs, and writing inspection reports. Sets objectives and guides team on the development, modification, application, and maintenance of NDT quality inspection, control systems, and protocols. Manages the implementation of continuous improvement and corrective actions for NDT problems for internally produced products and processes. Supervises the NDT team that performs the following functions:

Uses NDT methods, operations, setups and prescribed specifications to inspect arriving, in-process and completed products for conformance to engineering requirements. Uses a variety of nondestructive methods, equipment, and statistical control processes. Performs in-process, final bench and product feature inspections using NDT methods. Inspects actual products on the floor and on-line. Raises notifications of non-conformance, quarantines non-conforming product and, when approved to do so, provides disposition. Supports Engineering in failure analysis and special test evaluations

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages team of NDT professionals with flexibility to determine how assignments are completed

  • Sets day-to-day goals and objectives for team members

  • Problems faced may be difficult, but typically are not complex

  • Explains policies, practices, and procedures

  • Designs activities and supervises NDT professionals in the execution of tasks to ensure adherence to established department, organization and customer specification parameters

  • Develops NDT inspection priorities and balances technician workloads to ensure effective use of resources

  • Maintains logs and writes reports

  • Prepares technical reports or presentations to document results so that performance problems can be identified and resolved

  • Contributes to determination of the appropriate methods and sequences to perform inspections to ensure that the process is efficient and effective

  • Provides feedback on quality issues arising from NDT inspection fields to ensure continuous improvement and quality achievement

  • Ensures training, development, and certification program for NDT technicians to ensure that the skills and performance of employees meet the organization’s needs

  • Manages NDT operational plans and initiatives with a direct impact on identifying non-conformities and ensuring quality standards are in effect

  • Manages implementation of solutions to identify nonconformities and to satisfy quality customer requirements

  • Manages the development of new NDT processes, methods, and technologies to assure the reliability and conformance of products and processes

  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality NDT evaluation, control systems and protocols for materials being processed into partially finished or finished products

  • Working with NDT team in creating nondestructive testing plans

  • Collaborates internally to ensure quality standards are in effect

  • Ensures that projects and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or contracts

  • Develops proactive NDT quality initiative strategies and drives their implementation

  • Responsible for development of new nondestructive test and inspection technologies or methodologies to assure product conformance

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • 7 Years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry with organizations using and familiar with:

  • Federal Acquisition Requirements (FAR)

  • 3 years of experience in leading a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AS9100 Quality Management Systems

  • Continuous Process Improvement

  • Non-Conforming Material Process experience

  • Defense Contract Management Administration (DCMA) experience

  • Non Destructive Testing (NDT) experience

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
