JOB SUMMARY
This position exists to provide overnight shift coverage to residents in a female residential treatment facility.
Night Monitor staff will have limited interaction with clients as their duty hours are typically during the time clients are expected to be
asleep. Night Monitors may have frequent interaction with clients in the early morning, but this would be for less than an hour on a
typical shift. Due to the overnight hours worked, the Night Monitor may, from time to time, be called upon to deal with medical or
emotional emergencies/crisis. Night Monitor should be able to cope with emergency situations and be willing to seek supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors the residents during the overnight hours. Makes sure they are present in the facility.
  • Responds to resident’s needs for medication or emergency medical treatment.
  • Maintains program structure and adherence to rules and procedures.
  • Seeks supervision by contacting Resident Coordinator in case of emergencies.
  • Documents in program log both the regular checks on clients and any emergency/crisis situations which occur.
  • Able to provide basic direction to clients who experience emotional crisis during this shift.
  • Communicates effectively with other staff in order to provide consistent treatment for each client.
  • Displays regular and reliable attendance. Reports to and departs from work on time, as scheduled. This is particularly
important for this position as there is no other coverage on this shift.
  • Maintains facility security.
  • Understands the concept of co-dependent behavior.
  • Able to recognize mood changes or signs of behavior that indicate relapse.
  • Able to distinguish and discuss appropriate behavior with residents.
  • Complies with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards.
  • Participates in maintenance of security procedures of the facility
  • Encourages resident involvement in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
  • Sharing responsibilities with co-workers in all disciplines for all residents in the program.
  • Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be registered or certified with an AOD certifying board (e.g. – CCAPP, CAADE)
  • Working knowledge of substance abuse programs and treatment.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software.
  • Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team.
