    SUMMARY : To maintain a clean, sanitized, safe, and healthy environment for students to learn and staff to teach. To provide a positive role model for students and be a helpful, and approachable steward of the building when dealing with the public.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Job Responsibility Descriptions

    • Clean classrooms and offices including floors, carpet, chalkboards, windows, sinks, window coverings, computer monitors, keyboards, furniture, emptying trash, keeping waste containers clean.


    • Clean and sanitize restrooms to including the following: wiping mirrors, stocking paper, scrubbing fixtures, mopping floors, stocking machines, emptying trash, maintaining fixtures, removing graffiti.


    • Clean hallways including vacuuming; removing gum, candy, and spills. Trash removal, locker cleanup and maintenance, and keeping the hallways unobstructed. Clean entry way doors, windows and mats. Remove debris such as leaves/mud/gravel. Also clean and maintain entryway overhangs and light fixtures. Maintain and pick up trash in parking lots.


    • Secure building including doors, windows, gates and parking lots. It is our responsibility to keep a mental check on the building and its surroundings. This includes human activity as well as and sounds or smells that are abnormal.


    • Assist teachers, staff and students with any hazardous waste products and provide the knowledge to properly dispose of said waste. Inform supervisors and or teachers of suspicious and or dangerous objects or situations involving students.


    • Provide minor building maintenance for items such as light fixtures, pencil sharpeners, furniture, tile coverings, soap dispensers, paper towel machines, and custodial machinery. Evaluate repairs and maintenance items that need to be addressed and then turn in request through the proper channels. Inventory supplies on hand turn in a supply order or supply request when replacements need to be ordered.


    • Set up and then take down any number of chairs, risers, podiums, and whatever else may be required for special events or outside groups using the building.


    • Perform snow removal and de-icing of walkways and parking lots as needed.


    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE :
    • High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school

    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS :
    • Criminal background check required for hire
    • Valid Colorado driver’s license
    • Must successfully pass lifting evaluation of 35 pounds within one month of hire

    TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES :
    • Basic math skills
    • Oral and written communication skills
    • Interpersonal relations skills
    • Knowledge of Body Fluid Spills training required after hire
    • Knowledge of equipment and products used by the department
    • Ability to keep pertinent information confidential
    • Able to be an ambassador for the school district when meeting and working with the public using our school facilities
    • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies and building and department procedures
    • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and
      educational backgrounds
    • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator

    MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE :
    • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals, Microsoft Office Suite, as well as typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machine, email, etc.
    • Operating knowledge of vacuum cleaner, commercial floor buffer/scrubber, commercial floor/carpet extractors, and scissor lift
    • Product knowledge including cleaning supplies, disinfectants, etc.
