Job description
- Work onsite in our lab networking environment supporting our customers who are utilizing our cloud based communication solutions.
- The primary responsibility is to run tests and evaluate network devices on current and future customers. This includes software/firmware regression tests on release updates of vendor devices.
- Run performance tests with iPerf3 servers
- During and after the testing, create and update information about the device and associated software at our internal KB/Wiki.
- Manage our LAB networks and inventory of LAB devices as well as LAB test circuits.
- After understanding our entire network and network/security devices, will participate in the troubleshooting processes including communicating with customers to gather information about the network problems.
- Take advantage of career growth in the role and department after successfully mastering the current duties.
- Understand features/functions of networking/security devices and build plans and strategy of testing environments and scenarios, then execute testing plans.
- Strong technical writing skills to create reports of test results as well as product descriptions and operational instructions on the internal knowledgebase for users.
- Be sufficient with CLIs (Command Line Interfaces) to learn, configure and debug/test devices from multiple different vendors, such as Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Cradlepoint, VMware, etc., which is not available through GUI (Graphical User Interfaces).
- Knowledge of troubleshooting methods for customer network issues as well as the ability to communicate with customers throughout the process.
- Knowledge and experience with technologies, such as MPLS, Firewalls (including IPsec/SSL VPN), WiFi, routing (BGP, OSPF, etc.) and switching (VLAN, STP, etc.), SD-WAN, 4G/5G, RADIUS, LDAP.
- Prior experience working with the following: Cisco routers/CBS switches, Juniper switches/routers, FortiGate FWs, and other Fortinet products including FortiAPs, Meraki APs, Cradlepoint 4G/5G modems/routers, IP phones (Poly,Yealink), and new devices.
