Position Summary

The Network Engineer is part of a team that is responsible for designing system configurations, directing system installations, and documenting and enforcing standards to provide a scalable, maintainable, highly available network architecture that meets business objectives. Suggesting and implementing innovative solutions that align with the strategic vision of the company are key to this position.

This is a hybrid position, strategically located near our plants in the Monroe, NC area. A member of the Corporate IT Infrastructure team, the Network Engineer supports both local plant network infrastructure and global network operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Configures and installs various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, wireless LAN controllers, load balancers, client and site-to-site VPN, QoS).
• Performs network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
• Monitors performance and ensures system availability and reliability.
• Monitors system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
• Provides support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
• Works within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
• Implements security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team.
• Coordinates with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (with area of study in Information Technology or related fields preferred)
• Note: Candidates without a bachelor’s degree who have 5+ years of progressive enterprise networking experience may also be considered for specific openings.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting an enterprise network.
• Manage ambiguous and complex situations.
• Experience with Palo Alto and Cisco. CCNA required. CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, and/or CISSP highly valued.
• Deep understanding of networking standards and protocols (e.g., IPSEC, BGP, OSPF, IEEE 802)
• Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
• Adept at learning and applying new and emerging technologies, with knowledge of current network trends, vendors, and products.
