POSITION SUMMARY

Spicer Group is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our internal I.T. Group as a Network Administrator. This position assists our employees with computer network and system needs on a daily basis including installing and maintaining network communication infrastructure components, maintaining network equipment and management systems, troubleshooting configuration issues, and participating in project teams to implement network upgrades. Staff in this position work alongside our service groups of engineers, surveyors, planners, architects, and more. JOB RESPONSBILITIES

Employees in this position will provide technical support to our company-wide network and infrastructure components. Those in this position work with all service groups and all offices. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Installs and maintains network communication infrastructure components throughout Spicer Group’s office network, such as routers, switches, firewalls, SDWAN, wireless systems, VPN, cabling, etc. Maintains network equipment and network management systems at correct software levels. Troubleshoots network communication and configuration problems.
• Assess Spicer Group’s network and computer system needs, then work with the I.T. Service Group team to develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
• Monitor, maintain, and report on Spicer Group’s network performance and resource utilization.
• Projects future network utilization and recommend capacity and upgrade approaches. Analyzes network traffic to resolve and prevent problems.
• Partners with Service Groups to understand current and future network needs and recommend solutions for improvement and future proofing.
• Participates in project teams to implement network related projects throughout Spicer Group.
• Consults with users, IT Services, and others on network issues and capabilities and other areas of expertise.
• Must be and remain at the forefront of current and future network technology, gain a deep understanding of business uses and needs, and make recommendations for improvement.
• Participates in the disaster recovery planning process as it relates to the networking infrastructure.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for energetic and organized individuals who are ready to be part of a team that works with multiple professional disciplines on a variety of exciting projects.

• Associate degree or two years completed towards a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in Computer/Information Science/Business
• Five (5) years minimum of technical experience in the field. The equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
• Experience designing network architecture for efficiently storing and moving large datasets (multiple terabytes) across network environments.
• Candidates with relevant certifications, as well as experience with project management and network operations are preferred. (CompTIA Network+, CCNA a plus)
• Experience with Meraki network architecture a plus
