The Houston-based NERC Compliance Specialist supports the compliance obligations of fossil fuel and renewable energy generation sites located throughout the NERC Regional Reliability Entity network (WECC, MRO, NPCC, SERC, TRE, RFC).


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


CAMS is seeking an individual with a background in engineering, computer science, or related field. This person will largely be interested in NERC Compliance and cyber security. Prior internships in these areas or similar industry experience is a plus. The individual will report directly to the Director of NERC/FERC compliance. Responsibilities of this position includes:


  • Prepare and timely submit NERC and Regional Reliability Entity reports.
  • Monitor programs at assigned facilities to ensure continuous compliance and application of current enforcement dates.
  • Prepare RSAWs and participate in NERC pre-audit assessments and audits.
  • Evaluate, develop, and recommends new programs for integration into facility operations.
  • Verify or complete all day to day compliance work at the assigned facilities.
  • Conduct regulatory program training for personnel at assigned facilities.
  • Oversee contractor and vendor adherence to NERC-related obligations.
  • Complete complex projects and assignments independently.
  • Maintain project regulatory records and filing system.


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in electrical engineering or related field.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, to set priorities and to respond to changing demands from multiple sources.
  • Perform and manage multiple tasks in an industrial environment and to promptly identify and analyze complex compliance risks.
  • Computer literate, with expert-level knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • High level of commitment to excellence in regulatory performance and compliance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as good planning and organizational skills.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license. Driving on company business is a requirement of this position.
  • Overnight and short-term travel on company business is an expected part of this position, 50% travel to other facilities and off-site activities.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive and non-repetitive physical duties. Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, stretching, bending, climbing, working in awkward positions, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to maintain CIP background check requirements.
