Natural Resources Group Manager – Sioux Falls, SD
We are seeking an experienced Natural Resources Group Manager. This impactful role offers opportunities to work with local agencies and DOTs on a variety of complex projects involving planning, assessment, design, permitting, maintenance, and monitoring of the natural environment primarily related to infrastructure improvements, environmental restoration, and project impact mitigation design. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Environmental Scientist, Biologist, Professional Engineer, or similar, with a strong technical background and experience in client development and pursuing, managing, and providing natural resource consulting services for public agencies, including DOTs, counties, and municipalities.
As a Group Manager, team building and management are also essential requirements. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and motivated to begin assuming management responsibilities.
The Impact You Will Have:
- Manage and grow the Natural Resources Group
- Manage project teams, staffing, budgets, and schedules
- Contribute to local, regional, and corporate strategic growth initiatives
- Develop and manage relationships with new and existing clients
- Identify opportunities and lead strategic project pursuits
- Represent Benesch at industry and professional engagement events
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
- Professional Wetland Scientist or Environmental Planning certification preferred
- Excellent communication, business development, project management, and client relation skills
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills with a track record of understanding and adhering to contractual requirements
- Ability to lead, manage, mentor, and grow a dynamic team
- Progressive experience working directly with clients and developing relationships, with proven ability to win work
- Demonstrated ability in project identification, pursuit, and contract development
- Experience working with the DOT, City of Sioux Falls and/or local agencies providing environmental services
- Strong understanding of the environmental practices related to Wetland and Threatened & Endangered Species identification, impact assessment, avoidance and minimization strategies, and potential mitigation strategies
- Strong understanding of the NEPA process as it pertains to infrastructure projects involving new construction and/or major routine maintenance and rehabilitation
- Strong understanding of Federal, State, and Local Agencies’ environmental regulations and guidelines commonly applied to or associated with infrastructure projects
- Progressive experience in project development and delivery of infrastructure projects from initiation to design to construction to the maintenance stage
- Strong understanding of overall project management including a demonstrated ability to manage, monitor, and maintain project budgets and deliver projects within Company financial goals and objectives
