Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Natural Products Bioanalytical Research Scientist in the Metabolomics group in Crop Protection Discovery and Development located in Indianapolis, IN. We are looking for a scientist to enable the discovery and development of sustainable crop protection solutions derived from novel natural products.

Natural Product Bioanalytical Scientist – Job Responsibilities:

• Execute and interpret LC-MS experiments to analyze the results of high-throughput and scale-up fermentation processes, natural product isolation, and microbial biotransformation with the intent of discovering new small molecules.
• Collaborate to explore the bleeding edge of informatics and mass spec technology to improve metabolomics performance and accelerate natural product discovery goals.
• Participate in cross-functional efforts with scientists from microbiology, informatics, isolation, biology, and high throughput screening.
• Deliver internal presentations and research reports.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to scientists and technicians.

Qualifications

What will You need as a Natural Product Bioanalytical Scientist?

• Ph.D. or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Natural Product Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or related scientific discipline
• Proven experience with untargeted natural products metabolomics, plus conceptual reach into adjoining technical areas
• Effective communication, interpersonal, organization, and teamwork skills
• Self-driven: inspired by chasing new natural products, developing innovative technology, and/or the commercial development of molecules and microbes

The following are preferred, not required:

• 2-5 years of post-degree academic or industrial experience
• Ability to introduce new techniques to advance the discovery of Ag-relevant secondary metabolites
• Experience with genomics and natural product biosynthesis
• Experience with GNPS and/or in silico dereplication techniques
• Experience with Thermo and/or Agilent HRAM mass spectrometers
• Working knowledge of natural product isolation and fermentation science
